How do you measure a year?

As the year is almost finished, I guess it's right time to ask how do you measure your year..

In daylight, in sunsets, in midnights,
in cups of coffee, in inches, in miles
in laughter in strife* ... ?!?

This year has been so wonderful. I have ended up in a really nice Association, in the middle of many great people. Just gotta love this life in here! :)

No more words, enjoy your holidays and New Year's Eve. I hope it's full of fun and laughter. See you already next year, 2013

Christmas spirit!

After that Christmas party I had a nice good night sleep around 17 hours :D. Haven't slept like this for a long time ...

On Monday we met one of our friend and went to the Old part of the city with her :). It was a nice walk on top of the city wall and we also went to see some mosques and churches. As it was 24th of December, then instead of having the TRADITIONAL Christmas meal, we made one very traditional christmas meal for ourselves. We made couscous with some vegetables :D It was the weirdest Christmas dinner what I've had, but the day was still quite fun.
I can't say that my Christmas was so bad - not at all .. it was just different. Still fun :)

- I hope you enjoyed your Christmas. I've seen a lot of pictures with Christmas trees and snow. I don't have a real tree, but we have a paper tree in the Association - it's still something!! :)

Our little Christmas tree and Snowman :D

Library opening + Christmas party!

We had snow. This little thing made me so happy, maybe also because I just came back from Estonia and there I saw snow. This day I left from the Association very early (around 12 pm) and went back to homee... didn't just had any mood to work -.-

On Thursday we started giving English lessons to our youth council members.. it was hard, but me and Ago have to make our best to work hard with them ;). In the evening we were invited to Bercem's home. She is living in such a nice place, but they even wanted us to stay till the next morning. Wowww! This time we went back to our  home, but next time we'll have that sleepover in her place.
On Friday, we went to another little town, near Diyarbakir. It was called Silvan and we had to open a new library over there (local youth council here has a project where they are making libraries to smaller towns, villages) Library in Silvan was the 18th, what they made (it's all basically voluntary work  - people are giving books and furniture what youth council can use to make new libraries).

Today, me and Ago organised a Christmas party in the Association. We had this plan already long-long ago .. I mean, we knew that we'll do it on 22th of Dec. Yesterday we finally went to the shop and bought many-many-many things and ofc we started cooking in the evening.. and we didn't even go to sleep. We had a lot to do BUT after the party .. we felt so proud - we managed it! :D

Opening of the library:

NB! See how they are decorating the shelves. If they start to decorate something.. then it will be very- VERY colourful. :) Actually, we all decorated in together after arriving there
 Our group! :)

Christmas party:
Went to Carrefour and left from there with 5 bags + we had to go to other shop too. In total 7 bags. Believe me, they were heavy!

My 105th day!

No words needed! Our FIRST SNOW

Back in Diyarbakır!

I won't write here a long story. Let the pictures tell what I did and saw in Tallinn :).
I came back on Saturday and I still feel so good to be here (I know, I'm telling this to everybody.. but this is the way it is :)).

Nevertheless, I enjoyed my time in Tallinn too. It was amazing!!! Thank you!

I finally saw that Christmas tree in Town Hall Square! :)

Ah, we tried to make a new picture together! :D

Estonia!!!!

Yes, I´m in Estonia. I never thought that I´ll come here before my EVS ends, but plans have been a bit different - I´m here now.

I just came here to go to my cousin´s wedding. It´s still strange to think that I only came here because of that, but at least I´ve one "free" day in Estonia too. On friday, I´ll just take some time off and try to enjoy this supersnowy weather :).

My flights here were suprising, firstly I met some people I know in Diyarbakir´s airport and I had a nice 2-hours flight to Istanbul. Luckily, our other flights were almost on the same time, so I had a flight to Riga and the others had a flight to Frankfurt. In that flight I already heard Estonian and I recognized at least 10 people who also had a flights Istanbul-Riga-Tallinn. Oh that sweet joy when I finally arrived at Tallinn´s airport. My mom and little brother came to pick me up and ofc my brother spilled some coffee on me. I can call this as a good "welcome back" greeting!!

The wedding today was nice and I kind of enjoyed seeying my relatives. I was talking to them about my lovely time in Turkey and I must admit, I still enjoy that time in Diyarbakir.

PS! I´m flying back on Saturday. I think I can feel much more warm there now.. when I´ll remember the snow in Tallinn ...

PS! Youth and Change Association published the invitation for EVS volunteers .. here it is - http://www.genclikvedegisim.org/agh/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=143%3A-genclik-ve-deiim-dernei-gencleri-avrupaya-goendermeye-devam-ediyor-&catid=4%3Ahaberlerimiz&Itemid=34&lang=en  PURE JOY to read it. I feel so happy that this project got funded and people from Turkey can make their EVS abroad!

PSSSS! Snowy pictures are coming a bit later! :)

Ago's birthday + some other plans!

On friday we all celebrated Ago's birthday, we wished her happy happy birthday and a lot of joyyy! :D Morning was a bit awkward, when I went to wish her happy birthday, but luckily it turned out well. Also, in the association, everybody were singing. So, it was a quiet and peaceful celebration :D.

Meanwhile, it turns out that I'm going to Estonia next week. At least, that's the plan. There is just one small problem with one ticket, but I hope I can solve it soon. Oeh, it's so strange to go back there. I'm just thinking of it over and over again...

Since I haven't done anything useful in the association (besides small preparations for the 'Recycle with Children' project exhibition), I have spent my time thinking about Christmas decorations. I found good videos on youtube, so now I'm just folding everything what I can see :D (origami, jeejee!).. and also, I've started cooking again. Nothing so impressive, but still! :D

What a lovely evening it was
Muhammed - Ago - Recep - me  + Bercem, who made this picture :D

One day we gave an English lesson! :D

 Ago's B-day! :)

cold, rain, snow .. I guess winter is coming!

Everybody are a bit busy last days. Also, I'm still trying to find my christmas spirit, maybe it's a bit strange, as we still don't have snow, but we'll have it pretty soon (hopefully next year, in January). Meanwhile,  weather is getting colder and colder and rain has come back.
Sometimes I'm laughing that I'm the only one who is all the time like a little 'kubujuss' and dressed up. I can't even 'imagine' how I should survive winter (when it really arrives here). :) One day I even got a so-called 'the-best-compliment' from my coordinator that I'm like a fridge! :D :D Apparently it sounds better in Turkish... they have an expression like that. On that moment, it sounded so funny, and it still does when I'm thinking of it.

When talking about cold and winter, then we came up with the brightest idea together with Ago. We'll organise a big Christmas party!! Yes, we'll show them how we celebrate it normally. We already have the whole plan and foods written down and soon we'll start making decorations. I'm soo excited.. it just has to work out.

.. and finally, my adventures today. Shortly said, it was all about videomaking, English lesson and cooking without electricty + gossip girl marathon :D. Nice start for my day when I started making recycle-reduce-reuse Youth Exchange's video with Ago. Ofc we couldn't finish it :D and started with our English lesson instead (for kids/ 11 - 13 yrs old). It was all about drawing and explaining, but we did it good. Finally, we ended a day with cooking (while electricity decided to go away twice) and Gossip girl watching.. oh, that relaxing evening! Feels like this show is already a part of our evenings.

One day we're cooking: Pizza, nomnommm!

 Ago - Rojbin - Bercem
Quality is ofc superb! :D

Youth Council' 24th GA meeting

1st of December

November passed so fast and I was so terrible with blogging. Time just flied so fast.

Today while looking the calendar I couldn't believe that it's already December. When I see how people are telling that it's snowing and they want to go to a warmer country, I'm always secretly thinking that I'm sooo GLAD to be in Turkey. Today weather was really nice, sun was shining and it was warm. Ok, not so warm, but at least warmer than in Ankara. I came back from there on wednesday and now slowly-slowly we are making our plans for December and January.

Coming back to Diyarbakir was so strange. First of all, I had to leave very early in the morning. My taxi came around 5.30 am and ofc I had to explain the driver in Turkish where I wanted to go (and now imagine, my Turkish is not good..). When I was waiting my flight I went to one cafe, where I got some free cakes and coffee just as a surprise and finally when I arrived in Diyarbakir and took a taxi again then .. it GOT LOST!
This can only happen with me :D

Now, while I've been back here for 2 days, I already joined with Youth Council meeting with Ago and we went out together with our friends in here. Life is getting more and more exciting day by day! :)
